Modern Living, Historic Soul

Some homes deserve to be remembered exactly as they were built.

This Coconut Grove estate is one of them — a residence with decades of character in its walls, its ceiling lines, its light. When the homeowners chose to remodel, the brief was simple and uncompromising: bring everything forward, erase nothing.

Every technology decision we made started with the same question — will this honor what’s already here?

The Retrofit Challenge

New construction gives you empty walls and open pathways. Historic homes give you history — and the responsibility not to damage it.

Every cable route was planned around original materials. Every speaker was placed to disappear into the architecture, not compete with it. Every control point was designed to replace clutter, not add to it. This is the discipline of whole-home integration done right — technology shaped by the space, never the other way around.

Light as Restoration

The lighting design didn’t start with fixtures. It started with what was already beautiful.

Crestron lighting scenes were layered to reveal original architectural details — ceiling profiles, millwork, the way natural light travels through the home across the day. In the kitchen, task and ambient scenes shift effortlessly between morning prep and evening entertaining. Banks of switches vanished. A single, intuitive interface took their place.

The result feels less like automation and more like the home finally being lit the way it always should have been.

Entertainment Without a Trace

The living room doubles as a media space. You’d never guess.

Crestron audio and video distribution were integrated to vanish when not in use — preserving the room’s original proportions and design intent. The family room follows the same discipline: sound fills the space without a single visible speaker breaking a sight line.

One elegant Crestron touchpanel gives the homeowners control of every room, every scene, every source. No remotes on the counter. No devices on the wall. Just the home, responding.

Inside Out

In Coconut Grove, the canopy is the ceiling and the yard is the living room. We treated the outdoor spaces accordingly.

Weatherproof Crestron audio blankets the pool deck. The tiki lounge transforms from afternoon retreat to evening venue through automated lighting scenes that shift the mood without lifting a finger. The transition from indoors to out is seamless — same system, same control, same invisible hand.

The Invisible Backbone

Behind the walls, a meticulously organized equipment rack runs the show.

A Cisco networking backbone delivers enterprise-grade speed and reliability to every connected system in the home. Ruckus wireless access points ensure flawless Wi-Fi coverage across the property — indoors, poolside, and everywhere in between. Crestron automation and distribution handle lighting, audio, and video routing. Honeywell manages security and fire protection — keeping the family safe while staying completely out of sight.

It’s the kind of infrastructure homeowners never see and never think about. That’s how you know it’s done right.

Preservation Meets Precision

This project is a reflection of what we believe technology integration should be — especially in a home with history worth protecting.

The architecture came first. The design intent came first. Our job was to make the home more intuitive, more responsive, and more connected — without sacrificing a single detail that made it worth preserving.

A home that remembers where it came from, and loves you back.
