The Room That Sold the House

We've worked on a lot of theaters over the years, and there's a pattern we see pretty often. A family builds or remodels a beautiful home, and the theater is the last thing they think about. It ends up in a leftover room with a big screen and a soundbar, and everyone pretends it's fine.

This Boca Raton project was the opposite of that. The homeowners came to us early and said they wanted a real theater. Not a media room. Not a TV wall. A dedicated, purpose-built home theater that rivals the actual cinema experience. So that's what we gave them.

What the Theater Actually Looks Like

The room is anchored by black leather seating with smart positioning, so every seat reclines and adjusts independently. Above, a fiber optic star ceiling covers the entire room and is fully dimmable through the Crestron system, giving the space that feeling of sitting under open sky. We calibrated the surround sound to the room's specific dimensions and materials, because off-the-shelf tuning never gets you where you need to be in a dedicated space like this.

When you hit the movie scene on the Crestron interface, everything happens at once. The star ceiling dims to a soft glow. The lighting fades down. The projector warms up. The audio system engages. You don't touch five different remotes or walk around the room flipping switches. One tap, and the room does its thing.

When the movie's over, one more tap brings the lights back up and returns the room to normal. It really is that simple, which is the whole point of doing this properly.

Beyond the Theater

The theater gets the most attention, but the rest of the home received the same treatment. We designed a whole-home smart integration that ties together lighting, climate, and entertainment across the entire residence. Morning routines, evening wind-downs, and everything in between are handled through Crestron scenes that the homeowners can adjust from a single interface or just let run on their own.

The motorized shades manage the South Florida sun throughout the day. The lighting shifts on its own as the natural light changes. The climate system keeps every zone comfortable without anyone having to think about it. It's the kind of automation that you stop noticing after the first week because it just becomes how the house works.

Outdoor Security and Entertainment

The outdoor areas got the same level of planning. A Honeywell security system covers the full perimeter of the property, running quietly in the background 24/7. We also integrated outdoor lighting and entertainment zones so the backyard works as an extension of the home rather than a separate space with separate controls.

The Network Underneath

The whole system runs on a Cisco and Ruckus enterprise-grade network built to handle simultaneous AV streams, Crestron automation traffic, security feeds, and daily device usage without breaking a sweat. We sized the network for what the home actually needs today and what it will need five years from now, because a theater this good deserves infrastructure that can keep up with it.
